Integration Courses

The integration course contains includes 645 lesson units. The first part, consisting of 600 lesson units, constitutes the language course. The remaining 645 lesson units constitute the orientation course, in which topics such as "politics and democracy," "history and responsibility" and "human and society" are the center.

The goal is to enable migrants to communicate in everyday life and to participate in German social life.

Due to a new federal law from 2005, under certain circumstances, aliens can apply for free integration courses. These courses are subsidized by the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (Bundestamt für Migration und Flüchtlinge).

Costs of the Integration Courses

To participate in an integration course, you will need to pay 1 € per hour. If you are a recipient of Arbeitlosengeld II or Sozialhilfe, or if your income is very low, the integration course is completely free and costs for transportation will be refunded.

Furthermore, if you can demonstrate that paying the course fee would be a severe problem for you, you will not have to pay the fee. In this case, your income will be checked.
For verification of income, the following documentation is necessary:

  • Rent Contract

  • Receipts of city works (Electricity and Gas)

  • Proof of income of all persons living in your household (each with three most recent proofs of earnings)

  • Number and age of any children

  • Final maintenance costs which will be incurred

  • Additional sources of income

If you want to be exempt from paying the fees for the integration course, you must apply for a waiver of fees in a written letter. (Recepients of Arbeitslosengeld II and Sozialhilfe will be exempt from paying the fees under almost any circumstances.)

If you are successful with the final exam of the course, the federal office can reimburse up to 50% of the course fees.

We offer
  • Morning courses (daily from 09.00 – 12.15) and

  • Evening courses  (daily from 18.00 – 21.15)

Successful certification in the integration course is an important prerequisite for an open-ended right of residence for your naturalization in Germany.

Learning is best achieved when in a group with people in which you can share common ideas and goals. This is also true for integration courses. Therefore, an additional, special integration course is offered in addition to the general integration course. We offer courses particularly for women, as well as to improve illiteracy, parents and youths.

Which course is right for you? Please ask us directly and keep in mind that not every course is offered at each of our schools.

Integration is not only necessary to receive a job and social cooperation: It is also often necessary by law to receive certification in the German language acquisition.

Successful completion of the language levels A2 and B1 is one condition which need to be met for naturalization. Due to a law passed in 2005, which entitles foreign fellow citizens to apply for a free integration course under certain circumstances.

The federal office for migration and refugees (BAMF) advocates these courses; below you can read about the conditions in detail.
